SAM is principally involved in the business of exploration, mining, and processing of iron ore for subsequent sale. Our operation at the Chaah Mine has commenced since 2008. The Company now produces:
Iron Ore
Iron ore originates in nature itself. It can be found in the form of rocks and mixed with other elements. In fact, most of the Earth’s major iron ore deposits are found in rocks that were formed more than 1.8 billion years ago.
Iron ore has turned into the world’s most essential raw material that produces iron, which is then used to make steel. Various industrial processes involving modern technology are utilised to process iron ore into steel. Steel is the most-used metal by both tonnage and purpose in creating furniture, ships, and buildings. It is estimated that steel consumption globally can grow by 1% - 2% per annum, over the next 10 years.
Pipe Coating Materials
We supply pipe coating materials that are crushed iron ore to pipe coating companies. It is said that crushed iron ore has a naturally higher density and low impurities level. When used as a coating for sub-sea pipes, it can help to prevent corrosion in these pipes.
Pipe coating is a process to provide a strong protective lining to prevent corrosion in pipelines. Apart from being cost-friendly, it is known to be one of the most reliable corrosion prevention methods.

How It Works

Blasting Drill
The first step of the process is to drill holes in the ore area through a blasting drill. This process is needed as the mining area is a hard mix of ore and rock-solid surface that prevents excavation. Among the benefits of this method are greater efficiency, accuracy, and safety.

Blasting
In this method, a hole is first drilled in the surface before it is loaded with explosive materials. A licensed blaster is engaged to insert chemicals into the holes. These explosive materials are then activated with a detonator. After blasting, the fractured ground is ready to be dug.

Haulage
The ‘run of mine’ or blasted rock/ore will then be loaded by the excavator to the dumper. It is now ready to be transferred from the mining pit to the processing plant for the next step.

Crushing / Screening
Before the crushing, a screening process is important. Through this process, fine particles are separated using a static screen. This can then increase the efficiency of the crusher and prevent overloading. There are two types of crushing, which is a primary and secondary crushing. The primary crushing uses a gyratory crusher, while the secondary crushing uses a cone or jaw crusher. The crushed ore is then separated into lumps and fines.

Beneficiation
However, if the product iron grade needs more improvement, a beneficiation process is done instead of a secondary process. A beneficiation process includes:
Grinding: Ore is then finely ground to physically separate iron ore and impurities during a downstream sub-process. Efficient grinding would ensure minimal recirculation material from a cyclone cluster or screening after milling. Remaining larger particles will be rerouted back into the crusher.
Separation: The ground material is then separated into useful ore and impurities. Two different types of separators are usually provided together. The first is a separator based on physical properties differences, such as a gravity, magnetic, or flotation separator. The second is a separator based on sizes such as a screen or screw classifier. -

Product Handling
The trailers will then load the finished products to be sent to the designated customers.
